I'm Carlo, a software engineer based in Mindanao, Philippines. I studied entrepreneurship and spent a few years running operations for a family trading business before tech pulled me in. No bootcamp, no grand plan, just curiosity that kept going.
That background still shapes how I work. I think about software the way a business owner does: what problem it solves, what it costs, and whether it'll hold up when things get busy.
I also write here about what I'm learning, mostly tech, and sometimes what it's like coming into this field from a non-traditional background.

Software Engineer, Hipe Japan Inc.
May 2024 – Jun 2026Built and maintained web, mobile, and cloud systems for Japanese and international clients as part of an offshore development team. I worked on both new systems built from scratch and the maintenance of existing ones, with work spanning full-stack development, performance optimization, data migrations, and technical feasibility research.
